Looking for advice

Hi 

 

I am looking for a 16 port sas card  that actually has some speed.  I got one off eBay and it's DOA.  So just wondered if anyone has a suggestion on a sas card I can use for 16 x 8tb drives? 

 

Also I will need to expand the pools later on and I was looking at unraid but I have been told it's slow.  

 

I do video edit so i need a cashe drive and the Nas software to support SMB multichannel.      

 

The world of sas and Nas is a bit strange to me   so wondered what people would recommend.

what does you meen by needs speed? 8tb hdds are gonna be slow, so any card witll work.

 

Why 16x8TB? Id go 8x16tb

Id probably go truenas if you want simple, otherwise windows server will work fine

Will true Nas allow me to add drives to the pools after the fact so I don't need to have £5,000 worth of drives in one go. 

 

I need 8tb X 16 as  I have to have a 4 drive redundancy as from my other post. The boss demands it.

I'm a fan of the LSI 9201-16i. It's SASII/SATAIII. Will work great with ZFS.
