I'm crying cause i think my graphics gard just broke. I just finished moving my pc into a new case. I installed windows, all working fine. Then i plug all the cables into the pc and then i somehow pushed the back of my pc into my desk. The cable that absorwfbed the inpact was the Hdmi. Then, the screen was black with some blue dots. I restart my pc, same thing. I plug another old hdmi cable in. Now it doesn't even show those lines. I plug my graphics card back in and still, full black screen. Maybe only the hdmi port broke? What are my chances? Am i fucked or not?

I'm fucking 15 so this is devastating for me. I was planning on buying a 144hz monitor but i guess now i have to spend 150$ to get a second hand gtx 1060 3gb and i had 6gb.

Im not from the us, im from some eu country, 150$ might seem way too much for you guys. My warranty was 2 years and it's already been more than that.

Just plugged my original hdmi cable in, it's still black with blue dots (see photo below) the gigabyte aorus logo shows when i start the pc but that's for sure cause of the motherboard.

PLEASE GUYS, IF YOU HAVE BAD NEWS JUST DON'T COMMENT

Do you have integrated graphics? Have you tried your computer on other monitors (or a TV) or have you tried to plug anything else into your monitor?

Ouch.

What my hack attempt at repair would be.  There are people here who are better than me at this.  Listen to them first

Spoiler

May have dislodged the solder on the plug.  That’s an annoying microsoldering fix.  Need to desoldering and resolder the port. If you’re real real lucky it might just have been the plug on the cable that went.  That’s not as reparable but cables aren’t expensive.  There’s the right tools and there’s tools that work.  A hobby soldering iron can be turned into a micro soldering iron by removing the tip, determing the interior diameter. Finding a nail about the right size and filing the point.  There’s this stuff called soldering tape which is basicall woven wire wicking material.  Doesn’t work as well as a solder remover and in the long run it costs more, but for just one job it’s a few bucks.  Would require opening the card to find out if there even is a mechanical issue. Got to pull the cooler which is something of a production to get at the bare card.  That will give you a look at the port so you can see what might have happened to it.  Could be a dislodged port in which case this could work.  A mangled port would require buying a replacement part which wouldn’t cost much but would take shipping time.  If something shorted you could try all of this and still nothing.  It’s a “do the thing and see if it runs” kind of action.

If you’ve got the cash to replace the card you can sell it used as broken at a massive discount and someone who does this kind of stuff will buy it, fix it, and resell it.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

That would be my starting point.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Whole lot quicker and easier.  Decent chance you’d need a new hdmi cable anyway.  Take the hit and keep rolling is a decent way to do it.
