Workstation build

Workstation build

Budget (including currency): $1500

Country: United States, TX

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I’m a graduate mechanical engineering student and was looking for system that could be used for serious CAD workloads. Solidworks, Fusion 360 and Inventor, Ansys CFD, Thermal( mainly design analysis structural, fluid etc.) these are what I require my system mainly for but I do some gaming like COD modern warfare( the only game I play Lol)

Other details I have an old dell laptop which can not be upgraded or would be a pain to so I wanted to buy a whole new system (laptop/desktop/random custom built) while sparing some money on peripherals.
I’m looking to make this purchase as soon as I find a system for the budget. I request y’all to kindly suggest a suitable system with a good resolution and refresh rate based on your knowledge for the above mentioned activity.
Thanks

Those programs, do they benefit from multiple cores, or the raw speed of a single core? That will help determine if we are looking for a high core count, or a faster lower  core system.

3900xt is useless, get a 3900x. 212 evo is also useless, use the stock coo.er. Ram is overpriced for what you get and It's LPX, Get like a p360a for the case, and get like a neoeco gold or a earthwatts. The BQ is pretty bad.

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

Here’s what was recommended to me on pcpartpicker forums.

Your programs are mostly single threaded, so buying a high core cpu as posted above doesn’t help you

Do you really think a Quadro is necessary?

Maybe, I was just linking what was recommended to me, as I posted in same country with same budget.

and it’s completely different from what you had posted, gives him something to think about I guess.

The psu is a tier C on https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psucultists-psu-tier-list/.

Quadro would be good except for gaming.

I haven not included a gpu in the build below because ~$400 is not going to buy more than a new GTX 1060 3GB these days. Best to shop local deals for the gpu.
