Ryzen 3600 idling at 70, too hot?

zacdw

I've replaced the thermal paste 3 times and she's still idling at 70°C and maxing to 90°C when under load, I'm using Ryzen Master to check temps, they're even higher (80-85°C) when I use speccy to check.

I'm using the stock cooler, should I upgrade to a 3rd party cooler or did I just lose the silicon lottery?

I have a 3700x which came with the Wraith Prism, their top of the line stock cooler.

It sucked so I got an AIO that does the job.

I have a 3600 which came with the Wraith Stealth, their bottom of the line stock cooler.

It sucked so I put on the Wraith Prism from the 3700x and that does the job.

sometimes running  multiple monitoring software at the same time will cause high temps. try only using one. either ryzen master or hwinfo.

I am curious as to what kind of case you are running in?

I would think that it would help figure out the answer.

I personally am running the 3600 with it's stock cooler and my idles are around 55C after being heat soaked.

But I do have an airflow case (LanCool II Mesh).

My 2020 Upgrade: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600; MB: MSI X570 Tomohawk WiFi; Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB 3600 MHz; Case: Lian Li Lancool II Mesh Performance; PSU: Corsair RM550X 80+ Gold; Storage: WD Blue 500GB SSD; Seagate 4TB Compute HDD; Monitor: GIGABYTE G34WQC 34" 144Hz Curved Gaming Monitor, 3440 x 1440 VA 1500R Display

Previous Components Still Using: GPU: MSI GTX 1070 (bought Used); Storage: WD 3TB Green HDD,WD 1TB Black HDD, SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB

Previous Monitor I want to VESA mount: LG 29UB55-B 29" Ultrawide 1080p 60Hz IPS
