I recently built my first pc.

Currently running:

I9 - 10850K

Z490 vision from gigabyte.

32 gigs of ram at 3200 cl16

and a 3070 vision also from gigabyte.

(Also have an 850w PSU)

I'm getting warnings every so often that my GPU usage is spiking, and I see that it's at 70 - 85 (even 90) percent usage, with only 3-4 chrome tabs open. This also uses approx. 18 percent of my ram. Any explanation as to why? I've checked drivers, run troubleshoots etc..

Plz help.

This is one of the main issues with the RTX 30 series, it could be your power supply, but I would consider ignoring it being that it isn't a constant load. As long as it doesn't cause problems, it's probably fine. Otherwise, get a 1,000w.

a 1000w... for a 3070? I have a 3070 and opening a few tabs doesn't push it to nearly 100%. I don't really think that's a mainstream Ampere issue. It could be the PSU but I doubt it's about the amount power being supplied.

How long does one spike last, and how long does the general spiking last, if applicable? If you just booted up your system and opened a tab, that might be acceptable if it dies down relatively quickly. If not, maybe you have a problem.

Ya, you're right, I jumped to conclusions. Thanks for pointing that out. I don't personally have experience with the 30 series cards (yet) you would be much more knowledgeable about this problem anyway.
