PC underperforming & crashing

Go to solution Solved by Pixelfie,

I think I found the issue. A while ago I undervolted the GPU, and I just reset the volt to stock and it seems all stable. The lag has been fixed by installing 20.11.2. And about the thermals: that was apparently the junction temperature, it's still in the 70s. Task manager for whatever reason reports junction instead of the other temp.

Recently my pc started performing worse and crashing for whatever reason. In fortnite, comp settings 1080p I used to get about 300fps and now I get 120-160. Rocket league gets me simular numbers. I know it isn't bad, but it's worse than it should be. Also, sometimes this thing randomly reboots. I've built it only a month ago so all components still have warranty if something's wrong.

Specs:

10400F (stock cooler)

Crucial MX500 500gb sata

Asrock B460M pro4

Sapphire Pulse RX 5500 XT

16gb Hyperx Fury 3200

Be Quiet! System Power 9 600W

Antec DP301M

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

I'd try a different PSU first

600W might be just more than barely enough for your specs, but Id recommend you make sure that theres no heavy applications/bloatware/malware running at the same time. Try firing up Task Manager and see whats eating up your performance.

Have you tried disabling XMP, if it was enabled initially?

Have you tried DDUing your GPU drivers and downloading the latest from AMD's website?

600W certainly are "more than barely enough" for an ~80W CPU and ~120W GPU.

I wasn't talking about it's peak 600w rating.

Not a quality unit here.

Look up Be Quiet! System Power 9 600W reviews.

I don't think I had XMP enabled. Did the DDU and it made some difference, but not in a good way. The performance did go back to what it used to be, but so far 2/3 games I've played crashed quickly. I do feel like this has been happening quite often since I installed the 21.2.x drivers, so I will try installing an older version to see if it helps.

As for the PSU, that will be my very last option. I'm out of the return period for 3 days, otherwise I would just order a different one. But I personally don't think this would be the issue here, because it did work fine before and reinstalling the AMD driver makes some differences.

Will update you on the stability & performance of the older driver later 🙂

Just found something interesting. The GPU hits 95c under load, which was 75 last week. Tried changing up the fan curve which didn't do a thing. My cooling setup: Intel stock cooler + Antec DP301M with it's single stock fan + RX 5500 XT SF stock fan. Was planning on adding 1 or 2 fans soon for the case. Is this the issue? If so, how can I fix it without adding any extra cooling?
