I just bought a 2070 super not too long ago and I'm not getting the amount of FPS other people are getting with the same GPU. I'm only getting about 90 FPS in Warzone when I've seen people get upwards of like 170. I knew for sure my i7 7700K was a bottleneck. I had a x570 motherboard that I was intending to use once I got my hands on a AMD CPU. I finally got a 5000 series Ryzen 5 5600X and I installed both the CPU and mobo into my PC without a fresh install. I just swapped out my old mobo and CPU for the new one, powered up and started gaming. I'm just wondering if maybe that's why I'm losing frames. Could there be some old drivers or something crippling my hardware and is a fresh install of windows necessary? Is there something I could do to avoid that?

Specs:

Ryzen 5 5600X

MSI MEG X570 ACE Motherboard

EVGA 2070 Super

30GB GSkill 3000Mhz RAM

750W PSU

There's a wide range of issues that could be causing that, but a good place to start would be using DDU and reinstalling your Nvidia drivers from scratch.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

yeah like a 2070s never getting 170 in warzone - a least not in HD resolution. 😅

it's funny cause I get 170, but barely, thing likes to drop to anything around 100 fps randomly - the only way to play stable is lock the framerate to 120 or 60...

"high settings"  *puts everything on low and 90 render resolution* lol

They added a lot of stuff to the game which lowered performance a lot, so either this was an old video or fake - generally its really bad advice to watch videos to see what performance you will get.  for getting a ballpark expectation, yeah sure, but don't be surprised if you either get significantly less or more performance - no system is the same, and videos are incredibly easy to fake... there's a whole industry built upon 'fantasy fake movies' because of how easy it is... (is Hollywood even still a thing? 😅

^^

Also you're likely on newest win version, which has rather big issues (personally I can't use it at all, games become literally unplayable)

I get what you're saying, but I installed a 2060 in my brother's PC and he has a i5, he's getting more frames than me in every game we play. So, how does that make sense? Over 140 FPS is definitely what I should be getting if he's getting 120 and above in WZ. And still, people are getting much higher frame rates. Frames aren't being faked while I'm watching a stream and dude has the same GPU as me with a 3600X. Something isn't working right.

I'm not saying you can't improve it somehow, just that this is roughly what you should expect...

there's a lot of tricks to make a game run at higher fps for sure - the nvidia post I linked has suggested settings, including sharpen in NVCP and 90% render resolution for example - that'd be a good start imo.

And yes I agree specs wise you should get better frames than a 2060 - obviously, but this is also what I'm saying, every system is different, maybe it runs just better on Intel for example, who knows - just speculating here - also the settings thing...

Sometimes people use really outlandish settings and wonder why their framerates tank... (also just for example)
