In theory you could get away with the lower amperage power supply, you'd probably just have to be a bit more conservative with backlight brightness. Pushing it too high might just make it so you're unable to use it without a more capable unit.

hello i have recently found an old monitor of mine which i intend to use a second monitor only problem is that i don't have the original power supply i want to order one only problem is that the only one i find was a 12v 2a and in the back it states 12v 3.3a (i used my routers cable to see if it would turn on a {a 12v 1.1A} and it did I'm just wondering if it only turns on or it would actually let me use it

(I didn't have an video cable to make sure)

 

its a 17" LCD monitor
