Corsair HX850 coil whine

Hi,

 

I just bought a new Corsair HX850 on Amazon France to use with nvidia RTX 3060 ti.

I chose this one because it was platinum certified, and also in tier A in this forum's psu list

 

The PSU is silent in idle, however as soon as i run a game, there is this constant high pitched noise at about 7 kHz.

The high pitched noise depends on ingame FPS.

 

for example, with the game Rage2, i always here the noise.

with TwoPointHospital, i hear the noise when i set the FPS > 100

I took some noise spectrum data with my phone.

 

The RTX 3060 ti works well in another PC with a bequiet Pure Power 10 600W (no noise).

 

As i can't bear the noise, should i send the PSU back to amazon?

Should i chose another PSU brand? maybe avoid Platinum PSUs ?

Huh, that's weird... I would have been so sure that it's your GPU since the coilwhile increases with FPS, just like how it can with every other GPU but since you say it doesn't happen with the other PC / PSU, then I'm lost. I'm following your thread here. Wanna hear what others have to say.

Coil whine is possible yes. Your psu is high quality ubt it is possible still to coil whine. you cant really do anything about it.

no. You got unlovky. Return the psu and get the same model or similar.
