10850k vs 5800x

Go to solution Solved by boggy77,

better for? gaming, work? what monitor and gpu are you using? what expectations do you have from the cpu? what games are you playing and at  what resolution and fps? how much do the two cpus and respective motherboards cost?

Man really detailed question i mostly do gaming  im currently using a 1080p monitor and a GTX 1080ti i plan to upgrade to a 144hz 1440p and 3080 in the near future. For expectations i dont have any i guess. As for pricing here in indonesia a 10850k cost around $470 ish as for the 5800x cost around $640 (personally i think its freakin overpriced) as for motherboard dont worry abt it too much im planning to get z490-e from ASUS for intel platform for AMD maybe a B550 aorus master

A 6 core R5 5600X or i5 10600K would save you some money and would be fine for pure gaming. If you want the extra cores for other things then the 5800X or 10700K are more comparable.

Or wait until March and see what RocketLake is like. Probably nothing too get excited about though.

for mostly gaming, i'd go for a 5600x or a 10600k or future 11600k if you can wait for it. no need for 8 or more cores, 6 are enough.

Well that answers my question quite a lot but i am looking for future proofing for a rlly long time thats why im considering 8 or more cores and i forgot to mention im a informatics student too so i do a lot of multitasks too

Lol lol i personally think RocketLake is probably the same as 10th gen but with a lil bit more power. But maybe if linus or other big youtuber said it will be worth lookin at maybe i will wait till march

It is using the same 14nm process so it is more like a refresh. Also they are dropping back to 8 cores max on 11th gen. It will also probably run even hotter than 10th gen so one of these might come in handy 🧯😬

Huge OOF on that one man AIO will be more beefy if intel keeps on going like that. Might as well build a custom waterloop if im planning to go for 11th gen
