VRchat low fps

Go to solution Solved by RONOTHAN##,

It does sound a bit like a CPU bottleneck, especially if you can supersample that much and not lose frames. I'd try to overclock that chip as much as possible, or maybe upgrade to a 2600X if you can find one for cheap.

Hi,

I was just wondering if it was a cpu bottle neck or if there is something wrong with my computer.

I get anywhere from 35 fps to 11fps when playing VRchat. I have a Htc vive, full body tracking, RTX 3070, Ryzen 5 1600, msi x370 gaming pro carbon, G.Skill ripjaws 3000mhz (2x8gb @2933mhz).

I also play with the resalution in the menu set to %240 per eye, I do this because my preformace does not change but the picture quality is better.

Thankyou,

Scott

I oc to 3975.0mhz, so maybe need an upgrade although i just did at the start of the month from a i5 7600k.

Then you might need to get a 2600X and try to get it to 4.2GHz. You won't get that much, but it might be able to get you up slightly. Also, to make sure that it is a CPU bottleneck, try checking the per core usage to make sure that your CPU is actually being used, since thinking about it, it shouldn't be that low no matter what.

I can see that the cpu % is at 70-80% so idk I think it might be a VRchat thing.

the i5 7600k is a 4 core 4 thread cpu i ran it at 4.1ghz, the 1600 is 6 cores 12 threads.

A 7600k can be overclocked with almost no effort to 5GHz, and it has the single core crown over the 1600. In terms of single core, which is what VR games rely on, it performs closer to a 3770k. If you are just doing VR, or gaming in general, go back to that 7600k.

Try getting a Z170 or a Z270 motherboard and overclock the snot out of that 7600k. They can be found on the used market for very cheap, and you can get some pretty good boards for that. For my VR system I built about 6 months ago I got an ASRock Z170 OC Formula (Their LN2 optimized board) for $40 US on craigslist within hours of looking for a board in general. For something around that price, even if it's not quite as nice a board, you can definitely get a good board for not that much money.
