CPU clock jumping after mainboard switch

Go to solution Solved by Levent,

That is power saving features of your CPU/Motherboard. Disable intel C states in BIOS if you want to have your CPU running at constant maximum speed (which in turn results in more heat and power consumption when processors is idle)

So just yesterday I finished my build with the i5 10400 and the ASrock Z490 Extreme4 and today I noticed that the CPU clock speed is jumping from 0.8Ghz up to 3.9/4Ghz.

I assume that the problem is the Base Frequency Boost wich the motherboard does automatically for you, but I cant find a possible answer to this problem.

Thanks! I will have a look into it!

@Luigi04 If you do not want your CPU dropping down to 800 MHz when lightly loaded, switch to the High Performance power plan. Your computer is probably using the Balanced power plan at the moment.

I have the C states enabled on my computer and I run it at 5000 MHz, all of the time. Power consumption and idle temps are fantastic as long as the C states are enabled.
