VR game recommendations

Just the other day I ordered a Valve Index off of Steam, and was wanting recommendations for VR games.

Half-life Alyx is one I definitely want to get, it being convenient that it's included with the Index.

Other VR games I definitely want to get is Beat Saber, Super Hot VR, and Gorn. Aside from those ones, not sure what else. Maybe Surgeon Sim VR.

Beatsaber and Super Hot VR are definitely a good choice.

I also enjoyed Moss quite a bit.

 

Lone Echo is really good as well but it's for Oculus (you can get it to work via SteamVR but you would have to buy it in an Oculus store since it's not on Steam).

I have had the most fun with fallout 4. 

I have modded it so it has more enemies. The monsters in it make the face huggers in Alyx feel tame.  

I would not recommend it to anyone that does not have a powerful CPU since anything less than a 5ghz Intel could not handle it when things get extreme. 

Also running like hell to survive is like living a bad dream. It never gets old.

I have FO4, but don't really like it enough to pay $60 just to play it in VR.

As for CPUs though my main pc does have a Ryzen 7 5800x, so I'm pretty sure it can handle just about any game I can throw at it

I might end up looking at the Oculus store, I hear more VR games are being released there than on Steam. I've seen someone on youtube that mentioned there's some kind of program you can run that will let you play Oculus games with Valve's vr

I got it on a Steam sale for $23. I got Skyrim as well for $23. 

 

I do not recommend Skyrim because I only like playing as a mage since I think the archery and sword play are lame.

For games with a really strong campaign, I highly recommend:

 

- Star Wars Squadrons

- Walking Dead Saints & Sinners

- Moss

- Boneworks

- Paper Beast

- Serious Sam 3 (i'd get the whole bundle of all the SS VR games). You'll definitely need to get your VR legs before you play them though. They are also games where you just have floating guns (which I hate) but if you get Serious Sam fusion (allows you play with mods), there is a hand mod in there. It's very janky but does the job.

- No Man's Sky (tough game to run smoothly though). Had to turn down the settings on my 3080 but it's an incredible experience, especially in coop). To be able to freely walk around an alien planet, get into your ship, take off, fly into space and then land on a space station with no loading screens at all is mind blowing. The core gameplay can get frustrating for the first few hours but does pick up steam later on).

- Skyrim VR (if you mod the crap out of it).

- The Room: A Dark Matter

- LA Noire The VR Case Files. This one is a bit tougher to recommend as it has terrible controls but I personaly loved it. It is a shame they didn't include the full LA Noire game though,

- The Pixel Ripped games

- Lone Echo (with Revive)

- Alien Isolation (with the Mother VR) mod

 

For shorter experiences that are a lot of fun, I'd go for:

 

- Arizona Sunshine (definitely better played in coop)

- Freediver: Triton Down. A very underrated VR experience. Only about 40 mins to an hour but if you turn off all the aids, it's an incredible experience.

- I Expect You To Die

- Blade & Scorcery (expecially with mods like The Outer Rim)

- A Fishermans Tale

- Hellsplit Arena

- Crisis VRigade (extremely short but a lot of fun, especially in coop). The sequel is also good and is getting coop soon.

 

For some games that will give you a good workout:

 

- Beat Saber

- Box VR (what I personally use for some exercise)

- Space Pirate Trainer

- Thrill of the Fight (hardcore boxing sim). I also use this one as my primary exercise game.

I would also recommend Horseshoes, Hotdogs & Hand Grenades - the best gun sim on the market.
