Nvidia Shadowplay causing problems with DirectX 12 games

Enabling Shadowplay causes the GPU to not be utilized in DirectX12 games.

 

This has been tested in Horizon Zero Dawn and Red Dead Redemption 2.

 

Whenever the display capture feature is activated the GPU usage drops to 0-5% and the FPS goes down to maybe 2 fps.

As soon as Shadowplay is disabled the game runs normally.

 

Anyone know a solution?

 

Specs:

  • Mainboard: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master
  • CPU: i9 9900-K (not overclocked)
  • GPU: MSI RTX 3090 (not overclocked)
  • RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB, 3'600 Mhz, 4x8GB
  • PSU: Corsair AX860
  • OS: Windows 10; version 20H2
