RAM: 32GB GSkill FlareX 3200Mhz CL16 crashing above 2666Mhz?

When I first put my computer together last January, I inadvertently installed my RAM into the wrong slots (1&3 instead of 2&4) would this cause instability at higher clock speeds? I found that when trying to get the 3200MHz advertised, I get blue screens every few days. I am going to install the ram into the correct locations and attempt to get 3200MHz again.

Ryzen 7 3700x 

2x 16GB GSkill FlareX 3200MHz CL16

ASUS X470 Prime

970 Evo NVME 500GB

GTX 1050 2GB

No, 1&3 is basically the same as 2&4.  I mean, when you fill all 4 slots it's doing 1&3 and 2&4 all together so it would be the same in all practicality.

 

What error message do you get on the Blue Screens?  Why are you so certain it is memory related?

What error message do you get on the Blue Screens?  Why are you so certain it is memory related?

its been a long time since it has blue screened. I will have to look back through my camera roll. I'm don't really remember how I came to the conclusion that it was the ram but i lowered the speed and it stopped bluescreening and hasn't for 6-8 months

Did you check the QVL for the RAM you have?

 

Ryzen can be finicky with RAM but I would assume G. Skill shouldn't have an issue, but could be wrong.

 

Did you manually set the RAM or use XMP/DHOC or whatever the auto thing in BIOS is?

Yea, the RAM is on the QVL.
I have since upgraded my CPU so I could and should try increasing the clock speed again. 
I manually set the speed, I saw that the speed was at 2666MHz when I first built it and them wanted to increase it to its advertised speed. After that it crashed, I do remember that much.

To be 100% in line with standard procedures . move the RAM to 2&4 and then use the DOCP/XMP Profile.  Let the BIOS use the settings it has stored and see what happens.

 

Or rather, try DOCP without moving them first. See if slot doesn't matter at all.
