Hey LTT forum nerds,

I am currently using 32GB DDR4 2400 (4x8) sticks of Corsair Vengeance, but I was wondering if I was to get 3200mhz, would that really improve anything? I'm not looking for small increases in frame rate since I don't really play FPS games. Would it be worth upgrading my RAM, or would it be better investing in a new graphics card? The RAM I was looking at if I was upgrade was G.Skill TridentZ 3200mhz.

Current System:

  • RTX 2070 Super Ventus 8GB
  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • AMD B550-F Strix motherboard
  • Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz 32GB
  • Corsair RX750 power supply
  • 4TB Seagate HDD
  • 1TB Seagate HDD
  • 512GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD

Thanks for the help!

If your games are CPU bound you could expect a 5-10% performance increase i'd say. But when you're not playing FPS games i guess you'll be GPU bound most of the time. In this case upgrading to faster RAM won't do much. Maybe mention some of the games you play and what resolution/fps you're targetting.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
