Hi all,

It's been about 10 years since i last built a PC and technology has certainly changed. Long gone are the days of the mechanical hard drive and DDR3 Ram. AMD seems to have made a resurgence and my knowledge is not what it used to be. I'm pricing together a new build that I want to last me a long time (My current iMac 5K has lasted me over 6 years) I'm a graphic designer, that works constantly in the entire Adobe Creative Suite, I need to edit 4K video, as well as build extensive documents and layouts in InDesign, Editing photos in photoshop, remastering audio in Audition ect... I would also love to get back in to the world of PC gaming, which a Mac never really let me do. Let me know your thoughts on the below.

Please let me know if there is any glaring issues with the below list, I think all of this works together, but haven't been in the game for a long time.

Budget (including currency): Less then a new MacPro base price (10,000 AUD)

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Creative Suite for Video, Audio, Photography, Design (everything!), and PC gaming at its best

Ditch the previous-gen Ryzen for one of the 5000 series, or possibly even threadripper, your budget allows for it.

An RTX 3090 may well be overkill, I don't think you'll see an enormous benefit in premiere over a 3080, and the 3080 ti should be out around the same time as the 3060 - March-ish.

Please for the love of god don't spend $230 aud on windows, get a pro key on ebay or kinguin for literally 1/16th the price. The only reason to buy a key from microsoft is unlimited-use, which this is not...

I also question that super-ultrawide monitor... 3840x1080 is just a weird resolution, and not worth getting a 3090 for. Or even a 3080 honestly, that's 3070 territory. If you're spending that kind of money, get the Odyssey G9 instead. 49" 5120x1440, and 240hz. You could also consider getting a 4k or even an 8k OLED TV if you like the idea of using a truly massive display as your main. I think it's great, I use an older 40" 4k tv as a monitor
