Mouse misbehaving, please help!

Example; i click to rename a folder on the desktop from "new folder" to "Half-life Mods"

 

 i get to type the "Half" and the folder gets deselected and another random one on the desktop gets highlighted.

 

Also if i right click a blank space on the desktop that box will prematurely disappear.

 

nothing happens in games

 

I've tried,

Different mouse

Different keyboard

Uninstalling mouse software

removing all other USB devices one by one

reset folder options to default

checked mouse options

all the options that come up with various searches

punching mouse

swearing

 

Its basically like it just times out. Hopefully someone will be like "ah, that annoying thing"

FIXED IT BY CHANGING THE WALLPAPER FROM AN IMAGE TO BLANK WTF!
