I have an asus Z87-A motherboard it supports up to 32 gb,  the original corsair ram was 2 vengeance lp 8gb

1600 MHz version 8.31 they are in slots 1 and 3.  I got 2 8gb corsair vengeance 8gb 1600 mhz version 2.23 and put them in slots 2 and 4.  They only show up in the bios as 4gb.  I tried them in different slots and it’s the same thing.  When I first put them in the pc wasn’t happy red lights on the memory, it was flashing so I held the button down beside it on the motherboard.  After that the boot light went red. It’s all turned off now and running at 24gb and only 1039 MHz, sorry no pictures right now I’m at work. However this has been on my mind all morning.  I’m fairly new to pc, however love the gaming aspect.  Any help would be appreciated.  Be gentle don’t call me stupid lol.

I don't know for sure, but it could just be a hardware compatibility/support issue. Older boards and ram modules didn't always work together as easily as they typically do on newer hardware now.

The first thing I'd try to do is check the QVL page for your motherboard here: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z87A/HelpDesk_QVL/

And also see if the motherboard has a BIOS updated listed on the above page. Newer bios revision could make the RAM run more stable and/or faster.

I will look, the two cards I got are older then the ones i have, however came out it the exact same motherboard and ran at capacity. Slots are all good, I wish I could access them thru bios and see what’s up, with computers being able too tell u almost everything else going on it’s to bad. I even looked for diagnostic software
