Okay i have this mb and the support page lists a new bios and the description is super dumb

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/All-series/PRIME-H310M-E-R2-0/HelpDesk_BIOS/

"Improve system compatibility.
Support ALC897 audio codec"

what "compatibility"?

and there are not even proper google results for ALC897 , like it doesn't even exist. how can they mention a new hardware on an old board??

should i even get this BIOS?

Probably with memory, but BIOS update changelogs are notoriously vague.

A codec isn't new hardware, it's a way for audio to be processed/packaged/etc.

It's like a software now "Now works with .jpeg!". Your hardware doesn't (necessarily) have to change to support new software.

I can't find any info from Realtek on ALC897, but many motherboards support it.

The general idea is "don't update your BIOS, unless you have issues with your current BIOS (or another valid reason to upgrade)"
