As the title says, I'm looking at upgrading my CPU in the next couple of months. I currently have a Ryzen 3 3200G and I'm deciding between the Ryzen 5 3600 (expect it to be about $280~ when I buy) and the 5 5600X (expect it to be about $440~ when I buy). Obviously the 5600X is a more powerful processor, but will the extra performance justify spending the extra money (since I'll be needing to upgrade my GPU not too far down the road after a new CPU) or am I better off saving a bit of money on the CPU if the 5600X isn't going to be a huge increase?

I currently use the PC for photo and video editing, music recording and gaming, if that helps.

For your workload, the 3600 is more than enough, but if you really want that Zen 3 goodness, maybe you can wait until the 5600 non-x version releases? But given the amount of stock shortages, the 3600 is still a very good cpu for anything you would want to do

I currently have a Gigabyte Aorus B450M, mostly playing FPS games like Battlefront 2, monitor is 1080p 75hz and current GPU is an RX 570 8GB.

Nice, bios version F60 supports the 5600X. If you decide to upgrade get the 5600X that will let your system last the longest on that platform with that motherboard for years to come. A better choice than the 3600 in my opinion. Keep the RX 570 for as long as you can, at least until the GPU market comes back to sanity.
