Your CPU limits your GPU,and your motherboard limits your CPU,it's like a chain reaction.

You can buy an Asus P8Z77-V PRO if you want to unlock the limit on your CPU.

My friend use to tell me to increase the power limits on my cpu any ideas why?

Your friend has no idea what he is talking about,

Turn off Turbo, and increase CPU ratio to the max.

Apply and test the CPU in Windows with Prime95 Small FFTs for 1 hour.

If you have any warnings or errors tell us.

If you want better performance revert those to auto, increase CPU ratio to the max,and disable turbo.

CPU ratio should let you increase it to 38,which will set the CPU at 3.8GHz,instead of 3.4GHz.

It's important that you do it exactly as i say.

And yes you need to download Prime95,it's a stability test for your CPU,make sure to monitor temperatures during the test.

If that's the case revert all of those settings to default, there is nothing you can do to overclock it.
