Starting a server build and have a quick memory question

I have two memory cards to put in. There are eight slots. Judging from the pictures ive posted the cards should go in the C and D slot?

Am I correct thinking this? It seems strange to me that they are next to each other and on the same side of the cpu.

That definitely looks strange, especially with a CPU and motherboard of that size, but electronically it makes sense. It's just running in dual channel.

Also, judging from the socket retention mechanism, it looks like the little black and white diagram is upside-down in relation to the real motherboard. Make sure you're putting it in the actual C1 and D1 slots.
