Does asus p6t X58 support ecc registered ram?

I plan on using a xeon x5675. Does the motherboard support it? I don't actually need ecc ram I am only getting it because its cheaper so if it works but without the ecc function that is ok.

X58 is a little before my time but as far as I know the same rule applied back then. You can't run RDIMM memory on desktop motherboard. ECC memory can be used but the ECC function may not work. RDIMM sticks will outright result in no POST. That's why they're cheap. They need to be used on a server motherboard.

I just got some ECC registered ram working on a ga-x58a-ud3r if that helps. I had a stack of server ram and server CPUs sitting here and tried it and about 1/2 the ram sticks worked and 1/2 didn't. so yeah it's possible on a gigabyte board..
