PPPPPIIIIINNNGGGGGGG

i had  a problem with high ms. thought it was the wlan adapter.
it semms its not.
Situation: we have VDSL 100down 20up
we have a router (Fritz 6490) and i am using the repeater (FRITZ 7490). I plugged a LAN cable into the repeater and use that.
the Repeater is connected via WLAN to the Master router.
both routers are up to date everything good cable is also ok.
My router is connected via 2.4GHZ to the repeater.

now the problem

Boom.
sometimes I get crispy clean 23 ms constantly
sometimes this... anyone knows why???

I mean it must be the connection between the 2 routers but what does happen so it shifts to that nightmare?

Have you checked with a second device, only connected to the main router, if it realy is the connection between the 2 routers? As soon as you have those problems, I would use a laptop, smartphone or the router software to check if it is maybe the internet connection and not the connection between routers.

I suggest you first do that, to figure out where the problem is exactly.

If it is between the routers it'S maybe one faulty router (overheating etc.) or interference.

If it is not the connection between your routers, you have to talk to your provider. It could be the settings they have set (trying to give you high speeds they can not provide. In that case they can change some settings and you will have a stable connection with limited speed lost). Maybe it is the cabeling between your house/flat and the node. Maybe it does only appear at times, while everyone is using a lot of the intenet.

i used my smartphone + laptop. i connected both to both routers. did a ping test.
on the main router i got 67 ms
on the repeater i got 469 ms
so i guess its rly the routers problem
u know any idea why?
here its 2 am nobody uses the internet in my house rly now. still i have these high spikes regulary. sometimes again good consistent 20-50ms tho but most of the time this

ah nice. That's a good step.

jop, it seem to be the routers. There can be many things to interfere. saldy i'm not a expert on wlan. It can be a problem with one of the routers, or some interference. But you said you first tried to connect via wlan direct ot the main router with your pc, correct?

So I assume it's some interference. So you may wanna check:

- Are there many ohter Wlan networks in the surronding?

- Is there some heavy door in between or something else?

- Are there some other devices which can fuck up the signal (basicly everything which is on the same frequenz: Microwave, cordless telephones etc.)

Else i'm out of ideas, sorry. Maybe someone else has more experience and can help

I can tell you from experience that I have had nothing but trouble with a number Fritz Box routers (I assume this is the router that you have), which is what most ISPs supply in Germany when you sign a contract with them. It wasn't just me either, had some friends who also experienced issues similar to yours. Sometimes the internet was perfect, other times there was insane delay. Everything was resolved by just replacing these routers with some quality ones instead.

tbh yes there are some walls behind the access point and the master router.
i tried to change the wlan 2.4ghz and 5 ghz channels to ones where less are in it.
i dont think that my microwave in the kitchen fks that up that much. before i had wlan and i connected it via wlan to my pc. it was a bit better but still sometimes horribly bad.
i think its just that distance and i cant to anything

Note. i connected with my pcs wlan adapter to the main router
it changed from 2000 ms to 20-100ms
but i dont get why  a router would receive a signal that badly that my wlan adapter would get a better signal

generally : 2.4 ghz = more range
5Ghz: less impacted by interference

Well it can easily explained why the PC Wlan can be better: Better chip/antenna. My router is sooooooo shitty, that i'm not using the WLAN. My PC (connected via lan) is supplying a second WLAN for my smartphone. So depending on Router/PC there can be giant differences

One solution I can not really recommend is DLAN (Lan via electric wirering in the house). I tried to use it 4 times. Once it worked. 3 Times it sucked. So it can work, but most of the time mehhhhhhhhh. you may should listen to analog and dont trust in fritz xD
