PSU Requirements for Dual RTX 3090s

It's really going to depend on which 3090's you are planning on.

 

IT DOES MATTER A LOT.

 

For the 2X 8 Pin versions 1200W might be OK.

 

For the 3X 8 Pin Versions you will want some thing more than a 1200W PSU.

 

Something like a EVGA T2, or P2 1600 or Corsair AXI 1600.

Hi All,

 

Just wanted to check if anyone has more numbers I can look at for the PSU Requirements for Dual GeForce RTX 3090s.

I am currently looking at 1200W model based on the numbers I got from OuterVision Power Supply Calculator, which was around 1050W.

 

The estimated specs of the system are:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
  • X570 Motherboard
  • 64 GB RAM
  • 1 TB NVME SSD
  • 6 TB HDD
  • Dual GeForce RTX 3090s

If anyone needs more info or can point me to a good resource, let me know.

1200 should do good? and see about the cables.

with the peak or avg load from some of the YT'ers had was around 1000W, so 1200 or maybe 100w more could be good.

I wouldn't do anything less than a 1600 if you're going to go with just one PSU.

And that's running just a single 3090

I have seen about 800W running a single 3080 FTW3 Ultra. 

 

And that is from the PSU, not from the wall.

Well they were able to run SLI with them at some load with 1000W, but of course that was not enough and did go with 1600W.

Those were FE cards. 😉

 

They are NOT the high powered 3X 8 Pin 3090's that pull 500W.

 

That's why I said it does matter which cards it is.

So basically, if I manage to get a 2x 8 Pin version 1200W should be okay.

That's why I said it does matter which cards it is.

If I manage to get a 3x 8 Pin version, I will need to go to at least a 1500W model.
