Why are all pci-e cables a single 8 pin on the PSU side and dual 8 or 6+2 on the GPU side.

Do they makes cables that are just a single 8 pin to 8 pin for GPUs??

Thanks

🙂

Yes, they do.

Aftermarket ones like from Cable MOD.

they make the cables split into a 8+(6+2) because the cable running from the PSU can supply near enough power for both 8 pin pcie connectors. There will usually be a little bit of voltage drop under high load, but not enough to make a difference except when using higher end power hungry cards like a 3080 or 3090.

That's great to know.  I wanted it for aesthetics almost. But good to know better for power, makes sense.
