10600k OC v. 5600X for 360hz

I can't decide whether I should get a 10600k & try to squeeze a big overclock out of it (5ghz+) or whether I should get a 5600X for my Asus 360hz panel. I play Valorant on competitive settings 90% of the time but the benchmarks on youtube with a 3060ti aren't promising. I'm curious if there are any Valorant gamers out there with similar specs that can confirm whether I should go one way or the other. The PC is being built explicitly for this purpose. No streaming, no multitasking, mainly e-sports titles just trying to push 360hz. Thanks.

Ryzen 5600X.

i5-10600K @ 5.GHz still lose.

 

Even at stock vs stock, 5600X is already way ahead of the i5-10600K.

The 5600X runs at lower stock AND Boost frequency.

IIRC, if you can get really fast RAM on the Intel system, as well as a very high overclock, it should be pretty comparable by virtue of the 5600x being unable to handle fast RAM.

 

The 5600x is obviously the easier smarter and possibly even cheaper choice in a vacuum, but here we are. You can get a 10600k all day every day...the 5600x...not so much.

 

That said, I wouldn't pay anything more than MSRP for the 5600x. $300 for a mid-range CPU is high as it is, paying scalpers prices is just dumb.

Yeah I saw that on HardwareCanucks' video but even with a 3090 there's no way they're averaging 700+ FPS, especially on ultra. I don't know where they're doing their testing runs, likely in the training area with frames like this. As a result I can't rely on these numbers.

 

I do think you're right about the 5600x being the buy though. The few videos I can find using a 10600k are all struggling to average 300+ even on low but they're all at stock. An OC probably wouldn't be enough to bridge the gap.
