New GPU No Signal

flabaldo

My brother gave me his old gpu as he got a new one. My old graphics card was working fine however when I put the new graphics card in my monitor shows no signal. I've tried using a hdmi cable and a vga cable. I uninstalled my drivers. I've tried removing my cmos battery to reset the bios. None of which worked. When I put my old graphics card back in everything worked fine. I tried the new graphics card in a different computer and it worked with no issues. I am unsure what the issue is with my computer any help would be appreciated.

Edit: The Gpu does turn on and the fans spin when I power the pc on.

Old GPU: GTX 1060

NEW GPU: GTX 1080

@flabaldo do you know if you have enough power running to it? what power supply are you using?

Corsair rm650x, forgot to mention that the gpu does turn on and the fans spin.

okay, have you tried other HDMI/DP/DVI/VGA cables? on my RX 480, the cable I had been using for years just suddenly quit on me for no obvious reason. do the cables work with the 1060 in the other configuration? when that happened, it spun up and did everything it should do, except just a black screen would appear...

I've tried 3 different cables a hdmi, vga and dvi I think none worked with the new gpu. They all worked with the old gpu when I tried.

if your board has enough 16x slots, try booting into the bios and seeing if they both appear.

Unfortunately my motherboard doesn't.
