5 fans (w/o CPU) with 3 mobo headers (w/o CPU) - Y Splitters.. Help!?

13thNemesis

Hello everyone, long time no post!

Build:

  1. BeQuiet! Pure Base 500DX
  2. ASUS Gaming Z490 Plus
  3. Intel i7-10700K
  4. Bequiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 (2 fans)
  5. Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 2666MHz C16
  6. Corsair RM750x
  7. Old ASUS Strix 970 (will be replaced by a 3080 once they are available again!)
  8. Fan-Splitter: Silverstone SilverStone SST-CPF01

(Yes, this is my first build and upgrade after 6-7 years)

Mobo connectors for cooling:

1 x CPU Fan connector(s)
1 x CPU OPT Fan connector(s)
3 x Chassis Fan connector(s)
1 x AIO_PUMP connector

Case fans pre-installed: 3x BeQuiet! Pure Wings 2 140mm
TECH INFO about the Pure Wings 2

Rated Voltage DC (V) 12
Operating Voltage DC (V) 5 - 12
Current consumption (A) 0.30
Safety current (A) 0.30
Input power (W) 3.6

I want to add 2 x BeQuiet! Shadow Wings 2 140mm

TECH INFO about the Shadow Wings 2:

Rated Voltage DC (V) 12
Operating Voltage DC (V) 6 - 12
Current consumption (A) 0.30
Safety current (A) 0.30
Input power (W) 3.60

So my first question!

Can I use 2 Y-Splitters on the mobo to connect 2 fans into 1 header and another 2 into the other.
-->Exhaust will have its own header.

I want to add 2 more fans, those being the Shadow Wings 2 140mm.

All the Mobo connectors are:
4-pin PWM/DC fan (All onboard headers support auto-detection of PWM or DC fans.)
and the integrated AiO header enables full control of PWM or DC water pumps.

So I was thinking of the following setup:
2 fans at the front will be connected to 1 header with a splitter.

2 fans on the top will be connected to 1 header with a splitter.

The exhaust fan will have it's header.

or

2 fans at the front will be connected to 1 header with a splitter.

1 fan connected into its own header

1 fan connected into its own header

1 fan (exhaust or any other?) connected to the AiO header

I know 1 header should be able to support 2 fans, no problems but can there be any issues and which configuration (which fans into which headers etc) should I use?

Another question:

Should I only use 1 splitter, connect 2 fans to 1 header, connect another 2 fans to the other two headers and use the AiO header as another fan header (Exhaust for example)

Or should I just go with 2 splitters and leave the AiO be?

First question again!

Can I use 2 Y-Splitters on the mobo to connect 2 fans into 1 header and another 2 into the other.
Exhaust will have its own header.)

I will use 5 fans because I have a smaller gaming room that tends to run hot sometimes.

Any help and tips are appreciated!

splitters are fine to use, you might loose PWM control depending on what splitter you buy but thats about it. i dont quite remember how all my fans are connected tbh but i have at least one and probably two Y splitters in there

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Yes, no problem. As long they don't suck too much juice but with those fans you'll be fine.

AIO header is for pump. You ...can but they will run full speed as far as I know. Go with the first option.
