How do you overclock

Could it mess up the graphics card

How: LOOK IT UP! Seriously, a video will help more, I promise.

Could it mess it up: Yes, in theory, but there are security measures in place that will stop your computer if it's going to harm itself.

-Dont know how out dated this is:

Overclocking, is the act of setting your parts to higher speeds than intended from the manufacturer.

It gives you faster parts, because the manufacturer can't guarantee everything will run the same.

For example, if your cards top is 100%, but they know not all of them will get there, some can only hit 80%, rather than testing every single card for its top possible speed, they set them all at 80%.

So you can get that extra  ____% out of your parts, by overclocking.

How do you overclock?

-Google it. I know it sounds crazy, but there are guides that will show you how to overclock your specific card (or similar), and will take you step by step, with pictures.

What are the benefits?

-Speed! Glorious speed! You get the extra UMPH that your card is capable of. (Be it a graphics card [GPU], or a Central Proccessing Unit [CPU])

GPU overclocking is MUCH easier than CPU overclocking, but they're both not bad if you just apply a mild overclock.

Now, I know you didn't ask, but it's something I feel is needed.

What are the disadvantages?

-It can void warranties (Not typical)

-It can break stuff (if done wrong)

-It WILL produce more heat (which will go to your room)

-It REQUIRES an aftermarket CPU cooler for CPU overclocking.

Would it end up messint up if done wrong ?

If the speeds are too high your PC will crash (and voltage too low).

If you turn up voltage to like 10GHz on your CPU and 2V it can melt, but take it slow and it is easy and safe.

Same with GPU.
