GIGABYTE b550m q-flash button isnt working

Hi all,

I've recently acquired all the components I needed to build a new gaming system, but I've encountered an issue.

the specs are:

CPU: Ryzen 5 56000X

cooler: Kraken 280ml AIO

Motherboard: Gigabyte b550m pro p
RAM: 16gb corsair 3600 ram

storage: 1 terabyte m.2 drive, 240gb sata ssd

PSU: corsair 850w gold

the reason I got this board is because it has a bios flash button on the back, which meant i could just update the bios from a USB drive. however, when i tried it, nothing happened. i looked up tutorials that said to remove all components from the board, which i then did, but nothing changed.

I'm wondering if its the fact that the bios flash button has a dedicated USB slot, which has a 3.2 connection, but the USB stick I used was only 2.0

It could also have been that the motherboard still had fans and other peripherals connected to it, but I'm not sure.

I'd greatly appreciate any help on this before I move on and try anything.

thanks.
