I know I probably wouldn't go wrong with either of these. But Right now I'm building a PC for a friend (obviously as things become available), and he primarily uses his computer for media creation (He uses Pinnacle Studio, Corel Paint Shop, and Reason 6). His current PC is a total pos, and often takes up to 2 weeks to render a 2 minute video.

The part I am struggling with is the CPU, I have narrowed it down to either the 3700x or the 5600x. Now I know for rendering that more cores is generally king, so I should go for the 3700x right. But I think both will render a lot better than what he has now, so I'm more interested in his work flow improvement. For general workflow, what is more important between single core performance vs multicore?

Just to give some more detail, He does stop motion videos with a lot of effects at 4k resolution, and creates the songs for the videos.

Any help would be great

Thanks

I'm kind of going  a bit looser with the other specs, due to availability

But I was looking at

32gb of 3200+ ram (because of large file sizes)

3060 graphics card (If I can ever get ahold of one)

1tb SSD

Then just your standard fill in the blanks from there.
