How to reduce crackling caused by static electricity?

Hi,

I have a microphone that when connected via XLR really gets affected by static electricity. It seems like my chair builds it up quite a lot in me, as well as dry weather. 

 

Anyone have any ideas of how to reduce static electricity? I've tried moving less around in my chair :D :D 

 

I read online that carpets can be "treated", would that work for a chair as well?

Humidifiers I find help with static. At work I use a product called staticide on our balances as they get affected by static electricity really easily found that helps a lot. Not sure how it would affect your chair though in terms of materials but I'm pretty sure it's pretty harmless I get it on my skin and lab coat and it  doesn't really affect anything.

As rice said, humidity is the best way to reduce static.  It has other benefits too.  In the winter it makes it "feel" warmer than it is and it helps with breathing related issues, dry skin too. (I install humidifiers in the winter for work)
