Apparently i'm calling my friends without calling them

FalconHeist89

A couple days ago my friend called my landline and asked if we had been calling his number but midway through the call it disconnected as if my friend had hung up, but then he asked the on discord if i hung up and i said no. Shortly after i started getting call after call of just silence, and sometimes i picked up the phone and all i could hear is music. He tried calling again but each time it just got disconnected. My friend asked for my exact landline number (He has call id on his landline and I don't), he said that we definitely called him. So this went on for a few hours but we dismissed it as a problem with the phone wires (seeing as we only live a few houses apart). Nothing happened the next day. Now today at 8:00 am I got a call from my friend asking if i was calling him, i said no. Then i kept getting silent phone calls, so on one phone call i decided to stay on the line to see if anything would happen, and right at the end of the call it said the answering machine for one of my other friends who lives pretty far away. And just keep in mind that if this was an issue with the phone wire and it was just calling random numbers. It is IMPOSSIBLE that it call one of my other friends who lives far away from me. My landline has no contacts so it has no record of that friends number or the number of my friend who lives close. I only have their numbers in my cell phone. So how could i pick up my landline get silence for 10 seconds and then hear his exact voicemail. It's like almost like when i pick up the phone it calls someone. But I am just baffled as to how i could get the voice mail of someone who's number is only stored in my cell. I will keep this updated

Do you have a Cordless Phone on your Land Line? My Stepfather when I was living with him owned a Scanner, and listen to other Peoples talking on their Phones. This was well before Cell Phones become low cost and commonplace like they are now.

Did you perhaps answer your phone and dial a certain set of numbers per the request of the caller which would then turn your phone into auto forwarding?  One of your friends do this to you?

Unplug the cordless ones for now and see if it fixes the issue

Unplug the docks so that they are no longer in connection with the landline. If the calls still happen unplug the corded phone and if still then someone is for sure spoofing your number.

Do you live in a rural or semi-rural area where cell phones are unreliable?
