So we got a new wireless router from our new provider and it's got better performance compared to our old one and I was wondering if I could use the old router as a way to hook up Ethernet to my computer in my room and the new router is in my dad's room across the hallway.

If anyone could help then I would be grateful

Yeah that's probably what I meant

Alright you have to make sure your old router can accept bridged connections first. Get into the firmware setup and look for a bridged option.
