PC Freezes Randomly

Hi everyone,

My brand-new PC has frozen up really bad twice in the past week. I've been working in MS Word, and it just freezes. Nothing works, I cannot do anything or even use my keyboard shortcuts to exit out and open a task manager. The only way to get out of it is to press & hold the power button until it goes off, then restart. Looking at NZXT Cam the CPU/GPU temperatures seem to be ok, etc. etc. The first time it happened I had a lot of Chrome tabs open but nothing else. Any idea why this would happen and how I can prevent it? Thanks in advance

Open up Event manager and take a look at the system and application errors.

 

Also post your system specs: CPU, GPU, PSU, RAM, are any overclocked, etc.

NZXT Cam:

I'll look in the Event Manager (Event Viewer?? I don't seem to have Event Manager unless I'm missing something).

It could be a bunch of things. I suggest, to start:

- disabling unneeded start-up apps in Task Manager

- running memtest86 for 3 passes

- dropping your OC 100Mhz

- updating your BIOS

deinstall it, see if the freezes disappear. (restart pc after deinstall)

How do I update my BIOS? I've just started using the computer as I built it over Christmas holidays so I haven't yet updated all my drivers and stuff. How do I drop the OC?

Ahh. Is there something you'd recommend for replacement instead??

msi afterburner for example. 

 

However you should take care of this first (after you deinstalled NZXT CAM)

Update drivers, and maybe chipset, only update the BIOS if the issues persist otherwise it's not really necessary. 

 And trust me even in the unlikely case CAM doesn't give you issues right now, it will at some point, it's simply very unreliable and badly optimized (ironically)

Hey, have you found a fix yet? I have been encountering a similiar problem past week.

I think so! (knock on wood) I don't want to jinx myself but it seemed to clear up after I uninstalled NZXT Cam. Hope that helps
