gpu GPU is downclocking at 61C

My Rx 580 is downclocking when temps are fine and it is like capped at 80w. I don't know why it isn't at max speeds it is not hot at all like 61C. If anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.

What clocks are you getting and what are the advertised base and boost clocks of your model? I don't know if AMD has something similar to Nvidia that determines boost frequency based on temperature.

Hmm that is indeed throttling. Is your power supply high enough wattage to support that card in addition to the rest of your system? Being power limited at 80 W for a 150 W card seems odd.

what's your power supply? 

 

and what are you using to test this where it goes below base clock? 

 

 

some games or even benchmarks don't use a gpu (or cpu) fully and still work fine. 

 

for example I'm playing RE3 right now, gpu is a 58C, core clock at like 1450 (that's below "base" clock) cpu usage is like 15% at 1440p, high settings / 60fps.  so if I didn't know better I could however think my card isn't performing as advertised, but I realize it's just downclocking because it's just bored af and barely used at all, it boosts to over 2000 MHz in other games or benchmarks...

try windowed mode. Fullscreen doesn't work well with older games I found. causes tuttering and failure to detect high 3D load to get off idle
