CPU: R3600

MOBO: ASUS B450 PRO GAMING

RAM: Patriot Viper Steel 3733MHz 2x8GB

I can not push that RAM through 3200MHz. 3200MHz is the MAX i can go. Even at 3233MHz it wont boot.

DRAM XMP. profile was activated - all i did then was just lower the freq. Timings remained stock "to 17-21-21-41" 3733MHz freq. @1.35V and increased to 1.40V.

BIOS ver. is 2202.

Now all of the settings I've set in the BIOS are as followed;

DRAM voltage was increased to 1.40V

VDDG was put to 1000mV

VDDP was put to 1000mV

VDDRC SoC was put up to 1.15V

VDDRC CPU was pushed up to 1.45V for CPU OC but lowered down to 1.3V @4.0GHz (cos of overheating issues)

DRAM voltage was put @1.35V

So after a tiny bit of hope lost i lowered timings to 16-16-16-32, i could go perhaps a bit lower, but i am tired as of rn and gonna go take a nap.

P.S: RAM is placed in the right slots A2/B2

My question as of right now is which component is making a fool of me? I doubt it that it is the RAM, since then everybody would complain about it, but they dont.

I am quite sure it is either the motherboard or processor, but motherboard supposedly supports DDR4 up to 4400MHz. But when i wrote a ticket to ASUS they just replied with -

"Regarding the below described case, we kindly inform you that the RAM modules with the part numbers PVS416G373C7K have not been officially tested by Asus with your product and a 3rd Generation Ryzen processor and therefore supported. The issue you encounter may occur due to incombatibility issues.

We kindly invite you to please install RAM modules listed in the below QVL list available at your product's support page at Asus website and inform us accordingly if the issue persists"

Now, i cant change the ram can i? Also anyone else has the same issues similar to mine?

could simply just be a bad kit, it happens every now and then,

but to be honest 3200mhz is generally the sweet spot for an r5 3600, only zen 3 can really take advantage of higher frequency ram like that

Ye well, one kit was really bad before and got me errors and i replaced it, tho if i remember at this time the first kit was able to boot from 3200+ up to around 3400MHz but chrashed really soon too, but had to replace them anyway.  Tho i will pack them and give them to a friend to test them in his system just in case

your cpu could just have an abnormally weak memory controller, but that doesnt seem all that likely to me

well thats the exactly same thing i was wondering too... I guess I will also write to AMD and ask them for RMA if they deem the problem could be related to CPU, but before that, RAM comes first. if RAM works normally in friends's PC and boost over the freq i could not achieve, then it should be def CPU right?

could also be xmp just being weird and broken, its automatic so it doesnt always work the way it should

That CPU is rated for "up to 3200MHz" so they won't RMA you anything, it's within spec.

True, but ahah everyone gets higher than that. And that shouldnt be a problem. Then why would board partners even bother intruducing boards that support over that specified frequency then? makes zero sense, espeically because all ryzen cpus are rated for 3200MHz

You're on a very old BIOS, worth updating for better compatibility.

No it is not. It is previous BIOS to the latest one, and the latest one doesnt bring anything new for me worth upgrading to. It offers zero compatibility improvements.

Also for reference i posted pictures below. And also i guess it's my lucky day, beta BIOS came just yesterday

Not seen a 3000 chip yet that can't run ram at 3600MHz

I hardly believe that. I heard many people having good freq. ranges on higher end motherboards. with ofc better cpus then mine

and it's worth buying a kit that is on the QVL.

Believe me I would if i could, but everything else get's kinda expensive and if i ever did that, I'd much rather buy lower clocked RAM and increace the capacity instead.

I'm talking about the dozen or so i've worked with personally not what i've heard.

What i mean is it's almost always a compatibility issue and not a fault in the hardware.

well that's just sad :( Anyway Im go to a budy, he has x570 board and same chip.

But what you are basically saying is that all 3 components could be at fault of either hardware level error or just incompatibility issues right? and that's well what i know and i also understand you cant say anything for sure really, i appreciate your time tho 💪
