PSU for 780 GPU Upgrade

gareklaw

Hi guys I'm wanting upgrade my GPU from a HD7870 to a Nvidia 780 and I don't think my 550 PSU will cope. I'm wondering if I should get a bigger PSU to cope with the 780 and if so whats a good brand/model that has long Mother board cables, relativity quite and at least 80 plus. I wont be going SLI in the future.

Thanks guys.

Your current psu should be fine.

ya 550 watts with only 1 GPU you should be fine. I just would upgrade if you get another GTX 780.

You'll be alright, you could probably get away with a 400/450 watt.  550 should be more than enough

Well 550W should be fine, only the OCZ Fatality 550W unit, is not the best quality (sirtec unit) but still. it should be capable to handle it.

It should be able to handle it since a cpu overclocked system takes 340W: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_780_review,9.html
