Can fluid flow through a D5 pump while its off? I have an idea to flush my system using the external drain and fill ports and an external pump but i dont want to use the external pump if the internal pump wont pass fluid while its off.

I'm just pondering the idea of a type of dialysis to continually flush the system through between fluid changes.

I've been running a custom loop for a month now and it does seem to flow back down through the in and out ports if enough force from the weight of the liquid itself and gravity can help pushing it out. You will still have some liquid in the pump since the in and out ports may be a bit higher than lowest point in the pump.

yes you can. I know because i have a dual pump system and my second pump is a backup and is always off so only one pump is running. The pump that is off just sits there and lets water pass by like it doesnt care. There is prob a small amount of restriction it causes but its next to nil.
