Mixing ram

Is it ok? 

I have 2x8GB and 2x4GB.

 

Is it worth it or should I just stick to 2x8GB?

 

They're both the same brand and speed

they should just add together no problem It takes less than a minute to test so see what works!.

if they are both the same speed then they should work together with no issues

It should work fine.

 

Remember that they may need to be installed in alternating pairs to make sure dual channel mode works. So on a board with four slots, it should be 4/8/4/8 or 8/4/8/4. Your RAM slots may be colored to hint at that.

Yeah that's what I thought.  I'll just stick with 2x8gb  for now,  and once it's up and running I'll maybe try the additional 2x4gb

Now everything is up and running I decided to give the extra RAM a go. Seems fine now at 24GB. Will monitor it closely. Won't be doing any overclocking

No luck. Couldn't get past 2667mhz, and fps was noticeably lower when gaming
