Hi,

I recently put together a system for my daughter using old spare parts. For some reason the GPU is not being detected at all. She used to have a GT710, and aside from it being a GT710, it works fine.

I found a cheap GTX 750 and I'm not getting any display whatsoever. I tested an old Radeon HD 7570 and same thing.

I know the PCI slot is fine because I've tested the GT 710 and GTX 1650 successfully in that system. Both are powered directly through the PCI slot.

Here's my modest setup for my daughter:

Motherboard: Acer Aspire XC 600 (moved to a mid ATX case)

CPU: I7 2600

RAM: 8 GB DDR 3

PSU: 500w thermaltake

I'm at a loss here. Anybody have any ideas?

Do they require external power?

It's also possible that Acer skimped on the power delivery to the PCI-E slot.

I think that's your problem.

They do require external power. My PSU is brand new too. But I've tested everything and only the less power hungry cards have worked, so you're probably right. I guess that's what I get for being so cheap.

So you connected the 6 pin connectors and it did not work?

What is the exact model of the power supply?

Yeah I tried connecting the 6 pin connector. The power supply is a Thermaltake Smart SPD-0500P – 500W 80 PLUS.

Do the cards work in a different PC?

It still looks like the Acer motherboard is at fault.

Yes all cards are currently working. I think I know somebody with an old 1155 kicking around, so I might see if I can buy it for cheap and give it a go with the new motherboard.  Thanks for your help.

It would be nice to know what brand and model is the board.

OEMs like Acer,HP,and DELL sometimes do weird things with their boards.
