What motherboard makes sense? (Z87, OC, SLI, Water Cooling)

Hello all!

So I'm in the process of working on my dream machine (until I dream of something more) and I need some assistance!

I'm trying to decide on a motherboard for my build.

The requirements are:

LGA 1150,

PCIe 3.0 x 16x (At least two, with at least another 8x.)

My color scheme is of secondary importants, but if it's close between two, my build is Green (like Nvidia green) and black.

Thanks all!

(Budget: ~$500 USD.)

I've seen some iffy reviews of the Sniper 5, is it good?

Also, would there be a better CPU/Mobo for 600-700 bucks?

(CPU for 1150 was the 4670k, but I was also considering the 4770k, which bumps the price to 700)

Not the best value, but the only real choice for black and green. unless you go for an entirely black board which has more choice and usually more affordable.

I dont own one, but there oc boards are always getting brilliant reviews and their sniper boards must share some parts and features.

If I can bump my budget to a grand ($1000 USD), would a 4930k make sense?

Honestly I wouldnt put must stock in personal reviews on boards.. go with proper reviewers like Tomshardware, Linus, Anandtech, Most online user reviews on retail sites, 99% of the bad reveiws are probably user caused from some fault of theres.

People like Linus often get cherry picked boards, and may never actually build on them. A lot of the motherboards in the store on the website, say "Never built with"

The personal reviews are people that built on them, and use them daily.

I understand that.. but its really hard to judge "quality" when most of the problems that users have are generally user caused and did not ship that way. That was the point I was trying to make. Sorry if I wasn't clear on this.

Right. Everything has to be judged with a grain of salt ^_^

I wouldn't unless you're doing extremely intensive things.  4770k will be the same, if not better in most cases of gaming. And if you're going custom loop the temps "should" be lower whilst OC'ing.

What color scheme do you want? If green//black I'd say get something like a sniper board.  But I hear their OC line is pretty nice, you could do orange+black?

There's also some non "extreme" high end boards that are black that you could get.
