Adding More RAM to my PC

I am planning to add more RAM into my PC which already has 2 DDR4 Goldkey 4GB DDR4 PC2400 CL15 installed in it in Dual Channel. I have 2 more available slots to add more RAM and I believe my motherboard supports up to 32GB of RAM. I was wondering which kind of RAM I have to buy, can I add 1 stick of 8GB of ram into any slot available in my motherboard or do I have to buy 2x4GB sticks of RAM?

If you want 16GB of memory total, it'd be best to go with 2x4GB. Have 3 sticks of RAM would mean you could only run in single-channel mode.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Can you link to the kit you have right now? There's no point in getting a new kit that has a higher speed because RAM always runs at the speed of the slowest module. For best compatibility, you might be better off just getting another set of the RAM you have now.

Hmm. I can't seem to find that specific kit. On the manufacturer's website, there are 2400MHz CL17 kits and 2133MHz CL15 kits, but I don't see any 2400MHz CL15 kits. Can you download CPU-Z and take a screenshot of the 'Memory' tab? It's just so I can make sure it's actually running at the speed it claims on the label.
