hi, i have an rx 580 8gb and i was wondering if it would be wortn it to mine bitcoin. nicehash says i would make $2.15 a day. my pc is on pretty much all day anyways for online school.

not worth it imo. will probably use more power with the gpu than you will make back in bitcoin.

You're at the mercy of the exchanges of course, but I've recently started using NiceHash and mining some ETH (separately, as you can't mine directly with NiceHash) as well since apparently my 1080 Ti is still profitable and the machine is on anyway. We're already too late though as the spike is now. The one's profiting big time are the people that bought in or had BTC or ETH before and can now sell at a nice profit.

 

That doesn't mean you can't still join and make a buck or two, but don't expect to get rich overnight.

i am personally an avid hater of nichash and encourage anyone to mine elsewhere because their fees for everything are too much

I mine my ETH on ethermine with phoenix miner my 570's mine at about 27mh/s and i have free power so with all my stuff running i have a total of 210mh/s. so with this in mind my daily profit is like 0.013ETH/day or $15 and that is with 8 GPU's and free power. so with only 1 card you're looking at $1.80/day minus power cost which will likely put you in the negative.

 

Oh and you can't mine BTC with a GPU you need an ASIC to mine BTC you can only mine altcoins with GPU's
