- Power down the system.
- Unplug it from the wall.
- Press the power button a few times to drain residual power.
- Pull the new RAM out.
- Put it back in, ensuring that it is fully and firmly seated.
- Pull the motherboard battery out.
- Leave it out for a good 5 minutes.
- Put the battery back in
- Power up the machine.
