RAM issue?

Go to solution Solved by Hairless Monkey,

And how do I do that if I may ask? Sorry, newbie here..

  • Power down the system.
  • Unplug it from the wall.
  • Press the power button a few times to drain residual power.
  • Pull the new RAM out.
  • Put it back in, ensuring that it is fully and firmly seated.
  • Pull the motherboard battery out.
  • Leave it out for a good 5 minutes.
  • Put the battery back in
  • Power up the machine.

So I got a Corsair 64gb (32x2) RAM today, to upgrade my current 32gb (16x2) RAM.
I removed the existing slots, and placed the new ones (all of that done while the computer and shutdown and disconnected from the power).
Prior to my purchase I checked to see if my CPU and MB supports said RAM.

Now when I boot my computer, it only shows I have 32Gb RAM same as before and not what should be 64Gb.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there something that needs to be updated or changed so the computer can read it correctly? Or did the store just sent me the wrong item? (Which sounds off since the box was sealed and stated DDR4 2x32GB 3200MHz)

Thanks in advance!

take ram out, put it back in and make sure BOTH ends click. maybe one of yours isnt in all the way? If that doesnt work take a screwdriver or something to open the latch housing the small circle battery on your mobo. some people say 1 second some say a few minutes but 15 seconds is most common. an alternative to this is finding either 2 or 3 reset pins somewhere and connecting them with a screwdriver. same amount of time for this

OUTDATED JAN 2021 ===========> Check out my pc building guide! might be useful tho

It's great for planning new builds, getting a reference on where to start, or seeing what you need to play what games.

It also shows what I recommend for upgrading your stuff!

gpu - gtx 1070

ram - (2x8) 3200mhz

ssd - 970 evo plus 500gb

ssd2 - 860 qvo 1tb

mobo - asrock b450m hdv r4.0

psu - evga b5 550w bronze

Have been lurking in this community for almost a decade, but just made an account to thank you guys for giving such a clear explanation and guide on this - I've been going in circles all day trying to get one of my upgraded ram sticks to "count" after it got recognized by the machine but flagged by windows as "system reserved" and just wasn't included in any totals in UEFI or memtest despite showing all the sticks as present and "ok". Thanks again, you guys rock :)

Now I can finally go back to backing up that bad HDD boot sector, lol.
