Arctis Pro Wireless PS5/PC setup

Hey guys,

I'm in a market to buy the best possible wireless headset for gaming / movies / general use. ( I'll buy a separate pair for music)

As far as I can see, the Arctis Pro Wireless (though pricey) seems to be the best option. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Since the PS5 doesn't have the optical audio in jack anymore, you need to use the usb micro-b port to connect it to PS5. That leads me to my question, can I connect my PC with the optical cable from the motherboard sound card since it was designed to be used with the PS4? If someone has the setup mentioned above, please help me to understand if that is possible since the headset is very expensive and I want to be sure that it will work seamlessly with both the PC and PS5.

Will the sound quality be good since it is a integrated sound card in a relatively low end motherboard. (B550 Steel Legend from Asrock) The only reason I want this particular headset is the little input switch box that comes with it. If I can switch the input with one button from PC to PS5 without re-plugging the dongle between these two devices, I would be really happy. (I tried contacting the Steelseries e-mail support a couple of times, but the people working there have no f***ing clue what I'm asking, I always get a generic answer that doesn't help me at all)

Thanks for the help.

while Im not really a fan of the arctis pro wireless  especially cause the audeze penrose just sounds better for around the same price I believe though I dont believe they have a switch box its just a dongle and little conveniences like this for many can be much more valuable so Im not gonna judge if you go this direction. but an alternative solution I want to bring up is just a usb switcher probably one with a remote .  Im not sure if it will 100% work but worth a try

I forgot to address the optical thing it should be fine digital is digital and shouldnt be affected by your onboard audio. if you were planning to use the line in from your pc's line out then the onboard could be a concern but with a headset as mid as a arctis pro I wouldn't be too concerned.

So the optical connection will work with PC even though it is designed to be used with the PS4?

It should I really don't see why it wouldn't unless it has a protocol that somehow senses and distiguishes betweent he 2 and stops it from working from what I recall DACS that have optical usually work with the PS4 regardless if its designed for it or not

What about a USB switch, has anyone used it to switch between two devices? Is there a latency penalty?

EDIT: Steelseries rep finally answered my question, using optical with PC is not supported.

I know is a little bit late, but i have this headset and i using with digital audio on my pc, is work fine and i think is also sound better than micro usb, but i have also micro usb connecter for power and control!
