Memory Bus Guide on max?

We all know that each memory bus has an amount of memory which has a native support, right?

 

Well I was wondering if the Memory bit x 10 would equal the max supported memory on the bus.

 

Example:

 

192-Bit

 

192 x 10 = 1920 MB of supported memory

 

384-Bit

 

384 x 10 = 3840MB of max supported memory.

 

 

 

Does this actually work or am I just imagining things?

256bit x 10 = 2560MB, yet you can have 4GB on that bus.

No because you're saying 2560MB would be the max on a 256bit bus, but it isnt.

You can have 4GB on a 128 bus(EVGA GT 640), I think what Bluejay means is what is usable by the card under the best case scenario.

Its like pumping a card with so much more memory than it can handle over the bus... is his question yes?

 

Is it a waste as it cannot fully utilize the excess vram. yes?
