gaming Flashed mining card

Hi! 

 

So, i got an asus rx470 4gb mining edition card, it has been flashed to rx570 and seems to work just fine for gaming, getting reasonable fps and no bugs, but there is one thing i don't understand fully (i am kind of new when it comes to stuff like flashing bioses ect.)

This card works on ddr4 system, but not in any ddr3 systems i threw it in, i just could not get output from the card.

Is it due different bios or is it something that can't be changed?

 

Any help and information is much appreciated.

It's probably not related to the memory type, but to the BIOS the motherboard has.

RX cards need a bios with some UEFI features that not all older bioses have.

 

Same for nVidia cards, but I think only for cards after gtx 1060.

That could be a problem.. since newest bios was from 2016 what i could get on my ddr3 older system... but flashing an older gpu bios on gpu could help, or its not related to GPU bios stuff?

As far as I know ALL RX xxx firmware require that the motherboard bios must have UEFI features in it.

 

Changing the bios on the video card won't help, they all need bios on motherboard with uefi support

I know that this mobo has an UEFI bios update available, but its beta bios and i dont know how stable or trustworthy those are... So my best guess would be that i cant run this card on older hardware and should look for a different card?

One wiht beta Bios? Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3.. Kindof old board, i know

can you revert back to the old bios if you flash the beta one in ?

then why not try the beta bios and see if it's working fine
